Beach Clean-up

Aloha Families!
I discovered this amazing event through Facebook, and would like to extend the invitation to our keiki and their families. This is a great tie-in as well, as we just learned about the historical importance of this area. I have just copy and pasted the event text in here. If there are any issues or questions, feel free to ask. :)

Let’s clean an important sacred space and beach, Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau.

Even with the federal government shutdown impacting our National Parks, we can make a positive impact. See West Hawaiʻi Today’s recent article: http://www.westhawaiitoday.com/2019/01/05/hawaii-news/shutting-down-national-park-closure-creates-sprawling-consequences-in-around-honaunau-bay/amp/.

Trash bags and gloves will be provided but here are a few suggested things to bring:
-Comfortable clothing and foot wear to cleanup trash at the beach and around the park
-Garden or work gloves
-Sunscreen, hat and sun protection
-Water

***Please carpool to save on parking as the park's lot is closed.

Sign-up and RSVP for headcount by emailing [email protected]. Any questions can be referred to Kirstin at (808) 319-8731.

Typing skills!

We have begun our keyboarding lessons! I've noticed that our students are fabulous hunt-n-peckers when it comes to typing. We want to work on proper typing, so we now all have accounts on Typing.com.

All login-information is on Google Classroom, including a link to the student login page. If you, as a parent want to work on your typing, I will gladly accept you as a student as well. :) Just go to the "Join" link.

This is not graded, but is an essential skill in our technologically heavy future. The students get great practice, and most even said they enjoyed it! Feel free to let them practice at home.

It's CONFERENCE WEEK!!

I can't wait to see all of you this week, as we talk about your incredible child. Just a few reminders:

1.  The students let out at 1:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
2. They get out at 12:00 on Wednesday.

3. The conferences are STUDENT LED, which means, of course, your fabulous fourth grader needs to be at conferences as well.

Any questions, feel free to call me, e-mail me, or write me a note (or text me on Remind).

Cool!

Although today was interesting, as I completely lost my voice, there was a cool silver lining when we were able to turn on our brand new Air Conditioner! Thank you boosters, PTSA, and other donors for helping keep our keiki cool!

Fall break is almost over! Did your student forget to tell you they had Homework? Oops. They still have time to finish the BINGO board! They are required to do at least one activity from each letter, and write a short journal entry for EACH activity. I can’t wait to see them again on Monday!

Remind

It seems with the latest update, I got kicked off of the Remind App. If you are on there, I may have sent you a message and you didn't receive it.

If you are NOT on Remind yet, it's a great way to "Text" me for anything quick.
Simply text 81010 to @mrserincob  or click on https://www.remind.com/join/mrserincob
