Aloha and welcome to E-103! I am so excited to be here at Waikoloa School. More importantly, I am so LUCKY to be your child’s 1st-grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of learning and new adventures. I cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us. Conferences are Wednesday, Oct 23rd through Wednesday, October 30th. See the flyer for our early release schedule. Your child's conference appointment note will be in his or her Thursday Envelope. If you cannot make the schedule appointment, please contact me ASAP to reschedule.

Picture Retake Day

Tomorrow is picture retake day. Please return the original package if you would like your child to have his or her picture taken again.

Today we worked on locating short o words in our poem and drawing at least one key detail about the poem. 
Today we did an activity of sorting materials that were transparent (see through), translucent (kind of see through), and opaque (not see through). 
Here are some pictures of the students during Fun Friday. Ask your child what he or she chose to do! 
 
Also, check your child's backpack for his or her school pictures. 
This week I introduced a poem, "The Big Black Bug", to review short a words and introduce short i words. They visualized the poem and drew a picture in their poetry journals. 
Please make sure you fill out the Emergency Form that was in your child's Thursday Envelope and return it ASAP. Also, homework is due tomorrow and we will have our first spelling test. ~Ms. Barsetti 

Homework

Your child's homework packet is located in his or her planner. Please take a look at both. Homework is due on Friday. For the math portion of the packet, only have your child complete the sheet labeled with the current day of the week. If you have your child go ahead, he or she may not understand it because I haven't taught it, yet. If you have any questions, please call, text, or email me.

  • No school tomorrow for Statehood Day. Have a great three day weekend and enjoy the outdoors! 
  • Our picture day is Monday, August 19th at 8:15 am. The order form is in your child's Thursday envelope.
