Dear H203 'Ohana,
This week's Essential Question is:  What excites us about nature?  Please see the attached outline for more details.  
Homework:
Monday:  Write spelling words 4 times while being a Quality Producer
Tuesday:  NO SCHOOL - Teacher Institute Day  
Wednesday:  Write a poem about your favorite food using sensory words (how it looks, tastes, feels, sounds, smells like)  
Thursday:  Study for LA assessments
Math:  Daily worksheets
Reading:  Please read your weekly readers online to practice fluency and comprehension, talk about it, log into reading log, have an adult sign.

     Our Essential Question for this week is:  What do we understand about nature?  Your child will be reading folktales about nature.  Please see the attached outline for further details. 
Homework:
Monday:  Write spelling words 4 times
Tuesday:  Comprehension worksheet
Wednesday:  Write a fictional narrative about a character(s) at school.
Thursday:  Study for LA assessments
Math:  Daily worksheets (Module 8 - please see attached parent newsletter)
Reading:  Please read Weekly Reader focusing on theme, talk about it, log into reading log, have a grown-up sign.

Dear H203 'Ohana,
     We're back to a regular school week :)    Our Essential Question for this week is:  How are kids around the world different?  Please see attached outline for spelling list and other information.
Homework:
Monday:  Write spelling words 4 times
Tuesday:  Comprehension worksheet
Wednesday:  Write a fictional narrative 
Thursday:  Study for LA assessments
Math:  Daily worksheets; We are finishing up Module 7 - please practice double digit subtraction and polygons for an upcoming test.  
Reading:   Please read Weekly Reader on Wonders website, talk about it, log into reading log, have a grownup sign.

Dear H203 'Ohana,
This week will be review week since it is a three day school week.  Our informal Essential Question for the week is:  What is a hero?
Homework:
Monday:  No school - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Tuesday:  No school - Complex Day for teachers
Wednesday:  Write a fictional narrative about learning from your mistakes
Thursday:  Fluency practice
Math:  Daily worksheets (review two-digit subtraction, geometry)
Reading:  Please practice your reading daily - review all of your old Weekly Readers, talk about it, log into reading log, have a grown-up sign

We celebrated Dr. King with annual Peace March.   Mahalo to our Alyssa who did a great speech of what peace means to her.  Have a wonderful weekend to honor our hero.

Dear H203 'Ohana,
     This week's Essential Question is:  How does the Earth change?  We had a lot of fun with our Mystery Science project last week which aligns perfectly with our Wonders unit.  Please see the attached file for the spelling words and other information for the week.
Homework:
Monday:  Write spelling words four times while being a quality producer
Tuesday:  Comprehension worksheet re: cause and effect
Wednesday:  (carry over from last week)  Write a story (fictional narrative) about the Big Island.  Reminders:  need your main character, setting, plot (problem and how it was solved).  
Thursday:  Study for your LA tests
Math:  Daily worksheets (focusing on two digit subtraction)
Reading:  Please log into Wonders website and practice your reading for 20 minutes, talk about it, log into reading log, have a grown-up sign.
