Homework For the Week of October 22, 2018

Dear H203 'Ohana,
This week's Essential Question is:  What are features of different animal habitats?  Please see attached file for more details.
Homework:
Monday:  Write spelling words 4 times while being a Quality Producer
Tuesday:  Comprehension worksheet
Wednesday:  Write a paragraph to describe the habitat of your favorite animal.
Thursday:  Study for tests
Math:  Daily Worksheets (focusing on subtraction and measuring using inches)
Reading:  Read your weekly reader daily to practice fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary words, talk about it, log into your reading log, and have a grown-up sign.
2nd quarter:  Life Science:  focusing on living animal organisms, Social Studies:  focusing on maps and globes, civic responsibilities, human and physical characteristics of communities, earth's natural resources.

Wow!   A week later and we're seeing germination of seeds.   One group is growing something else that is white and fuzzy but no seeds sprouting!!   Why do you think that is?  

Welcome Back! Homework for October 15 - 19, 2018

Aloha H203 'Ohana,
     Welcome back from our fall break!  We will start off our 2nd quarter with our Essential Question:  What can animals in stories teach us?  Please refer to the attached file for our language arts outline for this week.  
Homework:  
Monday:  write spelling words four times while being a Quality Producer
Tuesday:  Comprehension worksheet
Wednesday:  Write a fictional story based on "The Boy Who Called Wolf".  You will be the main character and how you kept telling lies until one day no one believes you.   Please remember to indent, topic sentence, at least 3 details, conclusion.
Thursday:  Study for language arts tests
Math:  Daily worksheets (Module 4 - please see attached newsletter)
Reading:  Please read your weekly reader daily focusing on fluency, comprehension and vocabulary (and other books) for 20 minutes, talk about it, log into reading log and have a grown-up sign.  
FYI:  2nd quarter:  we will be focusing on life science (finish up plants) and animals.  Social studies - neighborhoods, maps and civic responsibilities.

We were practicing to be farmers by planting various seeds last week on Sept. 26th.  We used recycled containers to make terrariums, creating a habitat with soil, water and sunlight.
