Choose Kind

Wear orange on October 24th in honor of NATIONAL UNITY DAY. We are uniting against bullying!

Parent-Teacher Conferences and Canoe Cards

Please look in your child's Thursday envelope for the note regarding your child's conference date and time. If you are unable to attend, please call me to reschedule as soon as possible.

In the Thursday envelope, you will also find our Canoe Cards. If you would like to help our school raise more money for air conditioning, please sell as many as possible. Follow the information on the envelope. If you are unable to sell the cards, please return the envelope with all 10 cards.

Mahalo for your support,
Ms. Barsetti

Next Week Is Spirit Week

Monday, October 1st: Sports Day
Tuesday, October 2nd: Career Day
Wednesday, October 3rd: Twin Day
Thursday, October 4th: Favorite Color Day
Friday, October 5th: Favorite Decade

Our class earned an ice cream party, because we donated the most cans for the can food drive! Mahalo for your generosity!
We've started our first science unit, Plant Adventures! We've explored various ways a seed can travel halfway around the world. Today, the students participated in a seed dispersal activity. Ask them about the zone of darkness!

Scholastic Book Club Orders

This is a friendly reminder that the order due date is tomorrow, September 21st.

Scholastic Book Club

Check your child's binder for the Scholastic Book Club form. It's my recommendation to order directly online! It's so easy! Orders are due on Friday, September 21st.

Today, we reviewed telling time to the hour. They are also allowed to sit anywhere in the room to allow for more choice during the day!
The students have been introduced to MobyMax Fact Fluency to help them build automaticity with adding and subtracting.
I use the Daily 5 framework for literacy centers. I've found this to be the best framework, because it allows me to work in small groups while other students are independently engaged in meaningful literacy activities. Currently, the students are learning Read to Self. Once they've built their reading stamina for 20 minutes, I'll introduce the other components of the Daily 5 (Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Word Work, and Work on Writing).
