Weekly Summary, 2/2/18

These just keep getting better and better! While we started out with Substitutes (meetings and trainings!), the students still had a great week.

On Monday, I was absent because I had to go to O'ahu. However, I heard that our class had a substitute named Ms. Fetsch.
On Tuesday, at about 1:05 p.m., we read in our "Hawai'i" books about King Kamehameha. During Mathematics class, we learned about how to use tape diagrams with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. My favorite part of the whole day was RTI because we learned about how to use the Wonders website. The most challenging part of the day was when we had a writing test; we had to write a five paragraph essay answering the question "Should schools give homework to students to do over breaks?"
On Wednesday, in P.E., I practiced hula hooping, and jump roping. Also, we learned about how to write a bibliography. Writing bibliographies was probably the most fun part of the day because I had never wrote one before and I thought they were an efficient way to cite your sources. Today was challenging because I came across a couple hard questions while on the math website, Prodigy.
On Thursday, we watched a video about life cycles and we learned about what a metamorphosis is. My favorite part of the day was when we had a reading test; the stories were interesting and the questions were a good level. CAT class was challenging because we planted flowers. I had a great week this week! -AB

This week I learned a lot! On Monday and Tuesday we had a substitute, Ms. Fetsch and Ms. K. We had a substitute because Mrs. Coble was in a meeting or training. In reading, we did a triple double map it was about animal, human, and plant life cycles. An animal life has 4 stages, a human has 6 stages, and a plant has 4 stages. We learned bibliography and it means where you got your information from. In math, we learned meters and centimeters. For example, 1 meter is equal to 100 meters. My pencil is 18 centimeters right now. This Friday, I learned that my Hawaiian bird (Puaiohi) that I am researching about it's Latin name is Phaermori Palmeri. In Hawaiian Studies, we learned our song Koke'e, last Monday we did the first part of the chant, now we did the 2nd part of the chant .My favorite part of what we did this week was when we got to learn the 2nd part of the song. The most challenging part was in Math, on 5.5 or 5.4 we had to find the clues for how old is the family, I didn't get it. We also learned about King Kamehameha. -GG
