Aloha and welcome to E-103! I am so excited to be here at Waikoloa School. More importantly, I am so LUCKY to be your child’s 1st-grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of learning and new adventures. I cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us. Please download the ParentSquare app to ensure you won't miss out on the excitement and latest events in E-103!

The students learned fun and interesting facts about the bones in their bodies. After a slideshow presentation on the human skeleton, students created pasta skeletons. They ate fruit, popcorn, and sweets as they were working. Thank you to the families that provided these goodies. Happy Halloween!

Students are learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin. They also made observations about the pumpkins and predicted how many seeds were in each. Ask you child which of our two pumpkins had the most seeds!

Scholastic Book Fair

Don't forget the Scholastic Book Fair has started and will be open until Thursday. Their hours are 7:30am-6:00pm.

The students have been working hard all quarter long to earn a gumball day. They finally earned it last Thursday! Everyone was here today and got to participate in chewing gum all day! I am happy to report that no one got it in their hair or on our carpet!

10/16 Thursday Envelopes

Please check this week's Thursday envelope for your child's scheduled conference date and time. If you are unable to attend, please call or email me to reschedule. You will also find a small, white fundraiser envelope in the Thursday envelope. If you would like to have your child participate, follow the instructions on the envelope. If you decide not to participate, return the envelope with all 10 cards as soon as possible. Mahalo!

I hope you had a great time during Fall Break. I spent the week visiting family and friends in Iowa and I got to enjoy all the fall colors.

Box Tops for Education

Please send in Box Tops by October 29th. Our school goal is to earn $1000. Thanks for your support!

We are studying the three states of matter in science. Ask your children what they observed when they added water to the stack of sugar cubes.

We are working on optical art while focusing on lines and contrasting colors. The students traced their hands and drew curved lines in it. Then they drew straight lines in the background. The students chose contrasting colors to finish their pieces.

We have been following the Hōkūleʻa's worldwide voyage. Here's an activity we worked on after learning about Samoa.
