Happy Friday!

Happy Friday friends and family of room I-105 scholars! The quarter is quickly coming to a close but we are finishing up strong by learning about genetics in science and the colonies in social studies. Ask your student what they know about the human body, they are experts now!

Welcome back! Hopefully you had a restful Thanksgiving. Last week the four musketeers pulled together as a table group to be queens and kings of the class for a day!

In preparation for our Explorers/Conquistadors unit test students played explorers hot seat to review all the key players from Columbus to Cortes.

Students prepare for their performances of Reader's Theater: Esperanza Rising.  Students wrote their own scripts adapted from the book.

This week fifth graders transformed into playwrights taking excerpts from the book "Esperanza Rising" and rewriting and connecting passages to the UDHR. Students collaborated on their scripts and created props and scenery. Stay tuned for the final performances!

This week students worked on representing scenes from "Esperanza Rising" using bas relief techniques. Students learned about the technique used by Lorenzo Giberti on the doors of the Florence Baptistery. Stop by to see our art!

5th graders working on multi-digit division. We have learned a variety of strategies such as CUBES, pictures, and equations.

Welcome back!

Welcome back from break! Second quarter has begun and we are working on our college and career project. 5th graders reached out to professionals in their dream career and will begin looking at the steps such as college necessary to get the job one day! Stay tuned for more.

It's almost the end of the quarter and we are wrapping up our unit on "Esperanza Rising." Students are working on their essays about how Esperanza has changed throughout the book.
