Living Museum

Welcome back from Spring Break! It's hard to believe there are only 9 weeks of school left. We are starting off the quarter with our "Living Museum Project." Each student is researching a notable person from the American Revolution. We invite you to join us Thursday April 17th from 12:15-2:00 pm to meet with incredible characters from history such as Benjamin Franklin, Betsey Ross, Patrick Henry, and more!

This week students worked in expert groups to find out more about butterflies, army ants, bullet ants, and leaf-cutter ants. Did you know the bite of a army ant lasts for 24 hours? The army ant expert group taught the class that and many more cool facts on Friday. We will continue our work with informational texts and field journals in conjunction with our unit on ecosystems next week.

As part of our unit on biodiversity we learned the process of creating a herbarium or a plant library. After reading about the steps rainforest scientist Meg Lowman takes to create her herbariums, we created our own.

Welcome back from break! This week was a short week but I-105 got down to business straight away. We've started a unit on the 13 colonies and we're making kites in Hawaiian Studies.

Today was our college fair! Students looked through fliers and brochures for tuition costs, interesting majors, extracurricular activities, and other features at schools like Yale, UCLA, Creighton, UH Manoa, and more.
