Health Project Due 12/18

Healthy Mini- Project:  Create Your Own Food Ad

For the last 2 weeks, we will be learning about nutritional food and diet in Chapter 4 of your Health book.  Your Scholastic News article, “An End to Junk Food Ads?”  also discussed First Lady Michelle Obama’s desires to limit junk food advertising to kids.  Starting today you’re going to be putting all that information into your own mini-project.

Directions:  You may choose one food that you would like to research online, in books, and in articles to find the following information.

What are the healthy benefits of your food?

Identify the reasons why kids might enjoy eating this food?

What food group is it from?

What does it look, smell, and taste like?

Can you create a clever slogan that would help draw kid’s attention to this food?

What resource did you use to get all this information?

Using this gathered research, you will put together a Healthy Food Ad with: a Food Title, name, grade, slogan, and pictures of your healthy food, a resource list, and answers to the questions above.  I will provide you with a poster board, and some newspapers to cut out, but you will have to do some of this research and picture collection on your own.

Poster Due:  Wednesday, December 18, 2013

You will also be responsible for presenting your healthy food ad to the class on that day for an oral presentation grade.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT THIS WEEKEND: CHOOSE A HEALTHY FOOD TO RESEARCH & EXPLAIN WHY YOU CHOSE THIS FOOD.
