TeenBiz Story Reminder

Aloha,

This is just a reminder that two TeenBiz stories are due by September 1st. Students had a chance in class to do a story or two during one class period this past week and could have done it during silent reading on other days, too. Many said they were going to do it at home, which is great. :) If  you don't have Internet access at home, students should make sure they grab a computer during silent reading or stay after school for Office Hours on Mondays until 2:55.

Two TeenBiz stories a week are due by every Monday morning. (They should be done by Sunday nights.)

If students get 100% on their first try, they do not need to do a second story.

We'll see what happens this first week. I'll keep in touch ...

Aloha,

Mrs. Manoske

I absolutely LOVED Curtain Call, Ms. Bright's final musical at our school. I went both nights! I'm SO proud of all of the students who were in it. It's been a week, and I'm still thinking of how amazing the show was. Thank you, Ms. Bright, for all you've done with your Drama Club. I'm proud of YOU!

I went to Kahilu Theater in Waimea to see one of my students perform in a dance show, and I loved watching the skills, confidence, and determination of all of the performers. Sydney Atwood, your group's performances were fantastic. I'm so proud of you! This was the highlight of my weekend. :)

Advisory Words of the Week!  We need to practice these throughout our whole life!!

Honesty, Fairness, Being Thankful, Cooperative, Politeness, Kindness, Joyfulness, Cheerful, Trustworthy, and Patient!!

Students are reading the book Healing Water, and we are about halfway through. Today they worked in teams and focused on one character and one scene from a chapter. The teams also came up with open ended questions about the book ... I LOVE this book!!

7th graders are reading Healing Water by Joyce Moyer Hostetter. It is a historical fiction book about leprosy, Father Damien, friendship, struggles, tragedy, Kalaupapa, and family love. It's one of the best books I've ever read, and it ties into the 7th grade social studies curriculum. I LOVE THIS STORY!

We're on the home stretch! All classes set their year-end goals. One goal I have for my students is to teach them more about being self-directed learners. There's so much freedom in being responsible for for our own learning. :)
