ParentSquare

Aloha Families,

You should have received an invite to join ParentSquare. This is the communication app I had mentioned we are going to use. Let me know if you did not get the invite.

ParentSquare will be our main means of communication. Please enable notifications. I will still use this blog for updates; I will also start sending our weekly newsletter in your child's Thursday envelope so you can see what we are working on in the classroom.

Have a great day!

Back To The Classroom on 8/23

Aloha Families,

We will be back in person this Monday, 8/23. I wanted to thank everyone for their flexibility and support this week. We will use Webex again if we are not able to meet in person for an extended period of time. If your child has to miss school for any reason, Seesaw will have all the work of the day available for you.

Have a great - long - weekend!

Mrs. Hector

Aloha Families,

Open House Tomorrow 1:30-2:30

Meet me at my Webex at 1:30 for a closer look at what we do in Kindergarten. It’s a great time, too, to bring your questions or concerns.

Hope you can make it!

Mahalo!

This Week

Aloha Families,

I will be hosting a Webex meeting this morning at 8:00 am. Please type the following in your web browser; mobile devices might have to have the app installed:

hidoe.webex.com/meet/mhector

I will be happy to answer any questions you have then. It will also be our daily morning meeting until we get back together in person. After our daily meeting, students will have work assigned on Seesaw. You will need to download the Seesaw Class app. Seesaw login codes went home in your child’s backpack last Friday, 8/13. If you did not get yours, please email me.

I hope everyone is well and staying safe!

Aloha,

Mrs. Hector

Picking Up Students

Aloha Families,

Please pick up your child at our designated area, the very end of the front walkway. I need to know that your child is safe and with the right person.

Mahalo form understanding!

Contact Information

Aloha Families,

If you need to reach me for any reason, please call our school at 883-6808 x 241 or email me at [email protected]. I will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also send notes via Thursday envelope; just mark the column that says "Message" so I know to look for your note.

Have a great school year!

Behavior Rainbow Chart - Three Personal Standards

We get along in class and in school by following three personal standards: 1) Show respect; 2) Make good choices; 3) Solve problems.

We have a rainbow chart in our classroom. We all start "ready to learn" every day, Good choices get to "pin up" on the chart, and poor choices "pin down." We want to make sure students know that everyone makes mistakes, and that is okay; the important thing is that we can always make things better.

As usual, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Resource Schedule

We have resources every day but Wednesdays from 12:10 to 12;50.

Mondays: Library, with Ms. Sarasin. Library books stay in the classroom in K.

Tuesdays: PE, with Ms. Cabutaje. Please wear closed-toe shoes. You are welcome to send a hat or sun protection for your child to wear during PE. If sunscreen, please make sure your child knows how to use it on their own.

Thursdays: Computer Lab, with Mr. Jeffryes. The computer lab is located in H building upstairs.

Fridays: Guidance, with Ms. Amber (counselor).

Let me know if you have any questions.

Welcome to D-104!

Aloha!

This is my 9th year teaching Kindergarten here in Waikoloa. I am originally from Argentina, and Spanish is my first language. I have called Hawaii my home for the past 20 years. I live in Kawaihae with my husband and two children, who also attend Waikoloa Elementary.

I am a graduate of UH Manoa. I believe "the brain is boss," so I am always looking for new brain-friendly ways to engage, challenge, and learn together.

It's going to be a great year in D-104!
