Occupational Therapy

School-based occupational therapy [OT] support kids' independence in their occupation: being a student. This includes both academics and other parts of the school environment: play (e.g. recess), self-care (e.g. using the bathroom), social participation (e.g. lunch), as well as preparing older students for post-school roles as an employee and community-member.

OTs are specialists in helping develop students' fine motor, visual perceptual, visual motor, and functional task skills.  They also are often on student teams to help address sensory concerns, assistive technology needs, and environmental and task modifications, working directly with students or in consultation with staff and families.
