<div>Paao and Lonopele: Read the text and answer the questions. Please note that &nbsp;there are errors re:&nbsp;paragraph numbers in the vocabulary section. See attached for the edited version. Due&nbsp;to a guest speaker, we were unable&nbsp;to start this assignment in class until the end of the day, so students would not have had an opportunity to compare and contrast the double hulled and single hulled canoes (not a standards-based question, only an opportunity to observe and think). They did get to see the `ama (or arm of an outrigger) was made of Wiliwili wood. Both hulls were made of koa. We will read about what the sail and sennit was made out of next week.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>For&nbsp;social studies, students need to relate at least one story of migration. This particular story was told as it also is a could lead into the class system and kapu system and explains where it came from. It also is relevant in the future in that Kamehameha was a descendant of the Pili line of chiefs, his wife dared to challenge the kapu system and his son ended it. The last priest and adviser to Kamehameha was a direct descendant of Pa`ao. Waikoloa is also mentioned in the story who also is mentioned in another legend having carried water to Waikoloa from Waiki (water fetched).</div>
