How to help your student be successful...

There are many different options for parents/guardians to stay on top of their student's academic progress.
  • You can check the class BLOG (all teachers have one).
  • You can check your student's planner as all teachers require students to write their assignments down in every class.
  • You can check teacherease-if you do not have access, please contact your student's advisory teacher.
  • You can review your student's Interactive Science Notebook (all pages should be dated and numbered; all pages should be completed; many pages have bell work in addition to the assignment).
  • You can email the teacher (many times that it much faster than a phone call as teachers are in class all day and meetings after school, but could squeeze in sending a quick email; many teachers will respond to emails outside of school hours, i.e. 11:00 pm).
How can your student work towards success:
  • Your student can call a friend from school if she/he doesn't understand an assignment ~ (in the AVID class it is required that all students get 5 phone numbers of students they could call for help).
  • She/he can come in at recess for extra help.
  • She/he can attend Monday office hours (after school 2:15-2:45).
Tag teaming is always the best approach ~ if your student knows you are in touch with the teacher and you know what is happening in class, your student is more likely to be responsible for their own learning.

Hopefully these strategies help all of you be successful!
