W.O.W. Binder contains your child’s dividers, daily class work, homework, assessments, resources will be essential this year. W.O.W. stands for “We Organize Work” and is a school wide push to help students gain organization strategies. The binder/planner combo will be a place to see how your child is doing. A teacher stamp, signature or initials will let you know that your child has accurately and completely written down their assignments. These organizational tools are a continuous resource to check your child's progress. There will be work, projects in progress, resource sheets and graded work. We will dispose and/or file work from the binder at the end of each quarter.
Parent Kuleana
Initial planners daily, check Binders weekly, give your child a quiet place to do homework, allow 9 hours of sleep, encourage a healthy breakfast, give positive support and encouragement with new academics, social and emotional challenges. Please call or email me ASAP if you notice your child’s binder is empty, has ungraded work or seems sparse.
Communication
A Thursday envelope is sent home with important school information. Please sign/return on Friday. A student planner is provided for your child. Any concerns, drop me a note.
Homework
Students will have 15 minutes of homework and 20 minutes of reading daily, including Fridays. Please initial planners daily. Study Hall is used for unfinished homework. A pink slip will alert you to a study hall violation.
Attendance is important and prompt, regular attendance is essential for your child's academic achievement. School starts at 7:55.
Classroom Management:
For positive decision making, students receive self respect, respect from others, meaningful friendships, recognition and Navigator Bucks.
For less than positive choices, 1-teacher redirect, 2-teacher redirect with student reflection, 3- student call to Parent to inform about choices. All Chapter 19 violations lead to direct referrals to administration.
Navigator Bucks: Our school does a school wide economy system of Navigator Bucks. At the end of each quarter, students exchange bucks for prizes. Bucks are handed out for meeting our 3 Personal Standards.
Want to Talk Story… See me before 7:40 or after school at 2:15 at I203, call me at 883-6808 x216 (during above hours) or email me at
